Middle School Spirit: Dr. Julie Horwitz

📷

Too many people groan when we ask about middle school experiences. We squander the key moments in a young adolescent’s life when we could support healthy, active identity development. Instead the tradition is to minimize thought, exploration and concern.

I love middle school for the possibilities and the times when it is actualized. When we support the development of young adolescents as strong, independent, curious members of society the possibilities for youth are endless.

Julie Horwitz, Ph.D, Interim Co- Dean School of Education, Middle Level Program Coordinator. Rhode Island College.
